આપ સૌને જણાવી દઈએ કે આ સર્વિસ એન્ડ્રોઈડ સ્માર્ટફોન યુઝર્સને મળશે. Google એ Android Earthquake Alerts System વિકસાવી છે, જે ભૂકંપને શોધવા અને અંદાજ કાઢવા માટે Android સ્માર્ટફોનમાં સેન્સરનો ઉપયોગ કરે છે. જ્યારે ધરતીકંપના આંચકા શરૂ થાય ત્યારે વિશ્વભરના લોકોને વહેલી ચેતવણી આપવા માટે આ પહેલાથી જ વિશ્વના ઘણા દેશોમાં તૈનાત છે.

Smartphones are able to detect earthquakes thanks to the accelerometer on-board each device. When an earthquake is detected, users with the application installed are immediatly alerted. Since earthquake waves travel at a finite speed (from 5 to 10 km/s) it is possible to alert the population not yet reached by the damaging waves of the earthquake.

Google ની ભૂકંપ ચેતવણીઓ કેવી રીતે કાર્ય કરે છે
Google ની અદ્યતન સિસ્ટમ એક્સેલરોમીટરનો ઉપયોગ કરીને વપરાશકર્તાના સ્માર્ટફોનને લઘુચિત્ર ભૂકંપ ડિટેક્ટરમાં અસરકારક રીતે રૂપાંતરિત કરે છે. જ્યારે ફોન સ્થિર હોય અને ચાર્જર સાથે જોડાયેલ હોય, ત્યારે તે ધરતીકંપના પ્રારંભિક સંકેતો અનુભવી શકે છે. જો બહુવિધ ફોન એકસાથે ભૂકંપ જેવા સમાન ધ્રુજારી શોધે છે, તો ગૂગલનું સર્વર ભૂકંપનું સ્થાન ઓળખી શકે છે અને તેની તીવ્રતા માપી શકે છે.
આ શોધ પછી, નજીકના ફોન પર તરત જ ચેતવણીઓ મોકલવામાં આવે છે, જે ભૂકંપની તીવ્રતાના આધારે વર્ગીકૃત કરવામાં આવે છે. ચેતવણીઓને તીવ્રતાના આધારે બે પ્રકારમાં વહેંચવામાં આવી છે: 4.5 અથવા તેથી વધુની તીવ્રતાના ભૂકંપ દરમિયાન MMI 3 અને 4 ધ્રુજારીનો અનુભવ કરતા વપરાશકર્તાઓ માટે ‘Be Aware Alert’ અને MMI 5+ ધ્રુજારીનો અનુભવ કરતા વપરાશકર્તાઓ માટે ‘ટેક એક્શન એલર્ટ’ 4.5 અથવા તેથી વધુની તીવ્રતા સાથેનો ભૂકંપ.
ગૂગલનું એન્ડ્રોઇડ એલર્ટ ટૂંક સમયમાં જ ભારતમાં એન્ડ્રોઇડ 5 કે તેથી વધુ વર્ઝન ધરાવતા તમામ એન્ડ્રોઇડ યુઝર્સ માટે ઍક્સેસિબલ હશે.
