Importance of DG & IGP as Head of State Police Department:
The office of the Director General of Police is the main focal point of the Police Department and the Director General of Police and the Chief Police Officer are the Chief of Gujarat Police. A Director General of Police (Law and Order) has been appointed to maintain law and order in the office of the Director General of Police. Their main function is to inspect and carry out all issues related to law and order as per the guidance of the Director General of Police. In addition, DIG (Law and Order) has been appointed, who is working under the guidance of the Director General of Police (Law and Order) on law and order and crime.
Additional Director General of Police (Administration) has been appointed for ease of administration and supervision. Under whose direct supervision A-1, A-2, B, E, Budget, Accounting, Pension, F, M, JMT, Registry, Record, P.R.O. Etc. branches are located.
